At the invitation of Prof. Fausto Giunchiglia, Member of the European Academy of Sciences and professor of the University of Trento, Prof. Liang Yanchun, Dean of the School of Computer Science; Prof. Li Dalin, Vice Dean of the School of Logistics and Engineering; and Dr. Li Zi, Deputy Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, visited the University of Trento in Italy. Both parties held in-depth discussions on further deepening international exchange and cooperation and reached several important consensuses.

From October 3rd to 4th, Our delegation participated in the DataScientia International Academic conference on Artificial Intelligence themed “Society, Scientific Research and Education”. More than 40 representatives from 18 universities across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America attended the conference.  Prof. Fausto Giunchiglia, as the initiator,,stated that the purpose of this conference is to explore the establishment of a human-centered public scientific practice community related to general artificial intelligence through DataScientia, helping individuals understand their own data, how data is used, and how to utilize these data to build artificial intelligence systems that are transparent, inclusive and truly beneficial to society. The conference focused on the achievements made by various cooperative units in real-time language, lexicography, and pilot projects in South Africa and Uganda,and discussed current key research areas(citizen science, real-time knowledge,real-time data) and the construction of transnational joint laboratories. In his speech, Prof. Liang Yanchun expressed his gratitude to Prof. Fausto Giunchiglia and his team for building such a high-quality academic exchange platform. This initiative allowed the delegation from China to gather with people from around the world to exchange experiences and jointly explore the future development direction of artificial intelligence. Zhuhai College of Science and Technology looked forward to taking this visit as an opportunity to actively participate in the follow-up work of DataScientia. Prof. Li Dalin said that the team of the International Joint Laboratory of Zhuhai College of science and technology will continue to conduct in-depth cooperation with Fausto Giunchiglia's team in terms of research team building, joint talent training, MOOC localization and promotion, and share achievements. At the conference, Dr. Li Zi gave a report entitled “The ZCST Approach: International Joint Laboratory of Artifical Intelligence and Society” introducing ZCST’s educational philosophy, international cooperation network, construction of software and hardware facilities of the international joint laboratory, construction of teaching and research teams,localization of EAI courses, establishment of the Research Ethics Committee and Privacy Protection Office, and the Sino-Italian joint innovative talent training model.

This visit, despite its tight schedule, has yielded rich and valuable outcomes. During the visit, ZCST delegation carried out a number of exchange activities: discussing with Prof. Fausto Giunchiglia about the next-step promotion plan of the international joint laboratory, including the exchange of teaching and research personnel, the training of research teams especially young teachers,the localization of iLog, and the promotion of the implementation of EAI Course Version 2.0; helding workshop with Prof. Maurizio Marchese, Vice president of the University of Trento, and Professor Luigi Palopoli, Dean of the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science. The adaptability and the ability to learn in the new   environment of the students from ZCST were praised by the professors. Subsequently, both parties conducted in-depth discussions and agreed on continuing deepening the project cooperation and the doctoral cooperation project. ZCST delegation also held discussions with IMT Atlantique, one of the members of the Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT) alliance, and reached a preliminary cooperation agreement.

Finally, ZCST delegation visited the students of ZCST who are pursuing the 3+1+1 undergraduate-master's cooperative program in Trento. The students expressed their joy at seeing teachers from ZCST. They have adapted to the study and life in Trento and are full of confidence and expectations for their future academic research. They especially thanked ZCST for bringing them Mid-Autumn mooncakes with a strong festive flavor, which made them fully feel the warmth from  motherland.
